7 days to go before the van must ride back to Portland
Good howdy what a night, moon half shows, clouds rip across the sky, carpet strings float in the air as toes cling comfy. The last of the wood is affixed to the rooftop, shade structure will be riveted soon. LED lights prove a genius invention and are strewn about under the ceiling in red glow. Time has ramped up speed not allowing much time to shoot and less time to edit. Blues play on the jute box and the rhythm gets me going. More to come...
The roof goes...
A hawk floated its pause on the balance of the wind, unmoving for a spell. A skunk sat robust on the wind.
Many long holes were drilled in thick metal today in prep for the wood to go down roofside. Some more weatherproofing will be needed on small parts then the legos get another layer.

The Van now has an offical name... "The Douglas"
People keep asking me "Does your Van have a name?... Well from it's birth it was a Holiday Inn Shuttle. So it's often referred to as the "Holiday Inn" which is fun and fitting. "I stayed at the Holiday Inn last night." It is referred to as the Damn Van, or Good Damn Van or the VanDamn in dyslexic double meaning. The Green Machine, or Jolly Green Machine comes through plenty.
However the more and more I work on it, and look at it's face, and the new shape it is taking on the name comes out "The Douglas". Named directly after my Uncle Douglas Stanton who has the market cornered on electric enthusiasm, optimism, and original out-bursts. He has been a big supporter of my projects in every way and his words and actions make my world a bigger place. He has unlimited energy and ultimate integrity, he spies the interesting and odd in a way familiar to myself. Truly family by every definition. I cant think of a better persona I would like to infuse in the Van. A sprinkling of Mary Stanton (Lovely Wife) is in there too, for added firepower. Love you guys!

This is a DIY lesson as well, we must acknowledge Do It Yourself dosent mean Do It Alone. Many hands make light work, Equipped hands make work possible that was not possible. We all have resources of the mind, material and movement. When we give it adds to the whole of the big picture, as well as to the life of the individual human. We all must help each other in our own expert ways and pass the help we receive on to the unsuspecting. We must give back and forth, for it is fun and necessary for the world to boogie.

Break from the van...
The clouds were whipping and the rain was falling. My Uncle grabbed me exited and pointed it out. So a time lapse commenced.
Shaking coffee and rum- getting things done.
Hot hell, heroes, and Ed McMan!!! Holy Wholly Damn I'm pushing the long shift - 1hr from 24hrs awake. To much Jazz on the Voodoo in my Coconut if you know what I mean, Mucho noggin actions.... I mean too many Ideas for the Mind to take a yummie midnight nap. I solved the welding awning problem and added a third use to the awning arms - arts and craft/DJ tables! Opens the opportunity to use my Van as a mobile classroom or DJ Party. The clothing/tripod shelving over the wheel-well was perfected!- Now it removes to become an outside shelf mountable anywhere from the roof rack. The black-out adhesion issue is extinguished with sheer and brash drilling small A-Clamps to the walls. Simplicity is often complex when unseen, luckily I've been Drinking...
Nights like this I cherish and thrive in, not a speck of sleep and all the stamina. Only added coffee to the occasion around 7am. Fuel off the thoughts and walks the mind may take in distraction to find an ultimate conclusion for solving the perfect problem and yield thrice the results! No time to reread, the sun shines our halos- holy unperfect. Now I spout. No matter the feeling is there.
What a beast! The Jolly Green Machine, The Holiday Inn, The Damn Van, The VanDamn, MAN!! What a stoke! This thing is the strongest creation animal I have concocted to date. It is nearly able to handle massive on-going action. It is a home and a giant tripod, it is a venue and a fashion statement, it is potential and passion- Damn Damn - I think it will fly too if given the push!

The month is marching along quickly. Many jumps in progress. Fine-tuned and framed in loosely every piece of the roof. It's like a bowling alley up there. 15ft by 4.5ft of long flat blond wood with much storage below. There is room for the sunshower and rain/shade awning, which extends out 6ft on it's own, with the option to bring another 6ft to extend and attach to trees or drop down for added privacy. I also realized I can extend the shade structure arms straight up while attached in the upright position to make a full lean-to on the top. The bed works extremely well, some final additions and safety chain and it will be done. The kitchen is King! Building a nice shaped piece for the center consul too. So much to be thought of from here!

“DIY DAMNIT” is a video series focusing on spreading ideas of green, self sustaining living though a “how to” shooting approach. We will also take time to talk philosophy, passions, accomplishments, and future plans. A blend of human interest and applicable projects will be presented for an entertaining education course.
Traveling in a modified van we will take predicted routes along a map of networked locations. Organic farms intertwined with experts, amateurs, inventors, and found opportunity will prove prevalent in every climate of the United States.
Editing will take place on the road and updated to the blog.
